A DROP OF WATER IN THE WORLD

One time, I took an Uber and the driver was from Africa. As soon as I said I was Brazilian, his eyes lit up he told me how much he loves Brazilian culture.

Then he asked something that caught me off guard: Why are Brazilians always in good shape, always beautiful and happy?

I laughed and told him that maybe we’re just a little extreme when it comes to how we dress and care about our looks. But then I added, Maybe it’s also because Brazil is this chaotic mix of Europe and Africa.

And he instantly agreed. That makes total sense, he said.

That moment stuck with me. It made me wonder if Brazil hadn’t been shaped the way it was, would we even be the same people today?

Would we still be known for our joy, our rhythm, our resilience?

And that led me to an even deeper question: why do we keep trying to rewrite the past?

Imagine if England had fully colonized and “converted” India and Nepal we might not have access to Hindu wisdom today.

So why this obsession with hating what’s different? Why the rage against cultures that don’t look like ours?

The internet has made it so easy to have an opinion on things we’ve never even experienced. We scroll, we repost, we rage all without having truly lived, felt, or questioned what we’re talking about.

People are confusing fantasy with reality.

Take the conflict between Palestine and Israel. It’s an ancient struggle layered, painful, and ongoing. But today, people pick sides based on what the algorithm wants to show them. They echo what’s trending, without knowing the story or even asking, why do I believe this?

And it happens all the time. We remember what the Jewish people suffered under Nazism. And yet, somehow, we still live in a world where racism and violence exist.

If humans were as “perfect” as they pretend to be online, those things wouldn’t still be happening.

Because performative morality is not the same as living with virtue.

Posting isn’t action. Virtue is only real in practice.

Each of us is an individual with a unique purpose.

So why are we so obsessed with judging others, when we haven’t even taken care of ourselves?

If every day, I choose to live my values to practice the wisdom I’ve gathered that already shifts something. It’s one less person acting like an animal, and one more person choosing to be human.

If we all played our part, even just a little… the world wouldn’t look like this.

Like a single drop falling into a still puddle it may seem small, but the ripple changes everything.

The water isn’t the same after the drop touches it.

And neither are we
